The nlyte® Floor Planner is a graphical tool to enable you to plan and manage the physical layout of the floors and rooms within your datacenter.

A powerful graphical tool for planning and managing your datacenter
The nlyte® Floor Planner allows you to drag and drop assets onto the floor plan and position them to create the precise room layout you require. Using the nlyte® zoom and measuring tools you can position assets to within an accuracy of 0.01mm. The floor planner also helps you manage operational issues within the datacenter such as power provision, use of space, heat control and air flow.

The nlyte floor planner presents you with a layered representation of the layout of your datacenter to help you plan and position equipment and resolve operational issues

Layered modelling of your datacenter assets
The nlyte® Floor Planner presents a layered representation of all the assets on your datacenter floor. You can create individual layers for each asset category such as cabinets, floor standing servers, power infrastructure, air conditioning and networks. These can be displayed together or separately to simplify datacenter planning and issue resolution. These layers also include a layout layer that holds your floor plan drawings with static equipment and a grid layer that provides you with axes alignment guidelines.

Colour coded asset monitoring and capacity reporting
To help your managers identify potential threats and issues, the nlyte® Floor Planner includes real-time ad hoc capacity reports. As work continues within your datacenter, nlyte® monitors the different performance thresholds that apply to each device. If your operations result in these thresholds being approached or exceeded, nlyte® colour codes the affected device on the appropriate layer of the report’s graphical output.

The floor planner reports include:
  • Used/available space
  • Heat output/available cooling capacity
  • Used/available network ports in any given cabinet
Easily track asset relationships and records to help you resolve issues
From the colour coded results of each report you can quickly identify any jeopardised asset and click on it to drill down into the detail. This may launch the cabinet planner, from where you can display the cabinet asset record to understand why thresholds are low, or display the associated asset record from within the nlyte® Datacenter Module . From each of these asset records you can follow the relationship chain to explore the conditions of any other related asset.

From the color coded graphical output of a floor planner report you can identify a jeopardized asset and launch the associated asset record within the Datacenter Module to explore the issue

The nlyte® Floor Planner provides you with easy access to all assets in the relationship chain, from whichever end you choose to start. You no longer have to rely on a difficult combination of design drawings and spreadsheets. Instead, nlyte®’s graphical presentation of this information makes it easy for you to track the asset chain in order to understand where potential issues exist and how to resolve them.
